A pair of olives as found with their branch intactOur feature on organic cosmetic ingredients is both helpful & insightful detailing the composition of most ingredients, what vitamins they have and levels of Omega 3, 6, and 9 oils if they are present.

Have you ever bought a handmade bar of soap before or perhaps you've received one as a gift? What are your thoughts on organic skincare products from a smaller manufacturer... do the ingredients used have real benefits?

Larger commercial manufacturer's are now using natural ingredients, but they still use unacceptable levels of artificial preservatives and fillers amongst other things so are you concerned?

Let's discuss further, please leave your questions, thoughts and experiences below.

Hello Hilary

We do not put the ingredient Glycerine on our ingredients label because we do not actually add any into our soaps, unlike many other manufacturer's who do.

The method of soap making we use ensures at least 25% of our soap is Glycerine anyway, because of the way the oils react with Sodium Hydroxides (it's a chemical reaction).

Glycerine is important for healthy skin, however we feel the benefit's of our oils have greater importance - why we do not add more Glycerine to our soaps.

Hi

I notice you do not list Glycerine in you're ingredients for soaps? How much do you put in when making your soaps.

Thank you.

Hello Fiona

I have found most commercial moisturisers such as creams and body butters are either mostly water or glycerine based, cheap ingredients compared to oils such as Apricot, etc.

Even some of the smaller based manufacturers add a lot glycerine (than they need to) to lower their costs so it's becoming even more important than ever to look at the ingredients, paying careful attention to the order they appear in.

Glycerine is excellent for the skin however some people may notice their skin drying too easily where glycerine is the main ingredient.

I have terrible dry skin so I am always looking for moisturisers that are suitable and your write up on you're ingredients is very helpful and informative.

Next time I will certainly consider buying a moisturiser that was handmade with a difference, Mango does seam to be a treat!
